Sylvester :

Sylvester James (6 de septiembre de 1947, Los Ángeles, California - 16 de diciembre de 1988, San Francisco, California), popularmente conocido como Sylvester, fue un cantante de música disco y artista drag queen. Conocido por cantar en falsete (a pesar de tener una voz de barítono), fue también uno de los primeros fundadores del sonido Hi-NRG, junto a Patrick Cowley, y recibió influencias desde Europa, de grupos como Telex o músicos como Giorgio Moroder. Y también, uno de los talentosos músicos homosexuales que murió a consecuencia de las complicaciones del VIH. Sylvester a veces era conocido como la "Reina del Disco", aunque este apodo también ha sido otorgado a algunas mujeres de la era Disco, como Gloria Gaynor o Donna Summer.¹ Sus canciones más importantes son "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)", "Dance (Disco Heat)" (ambos de 1978) y "Do You Wanna Funk" (1982).

Su primer grupo fue The Mynah Birds, junto a Neil Young y Bruce Palmer. Tras ser arrestado por evadir la conscripción, vivió un tiempo en el Reino Unido, donde lideró el grupo Main Line. A su regreso, reinició su carrera como cantautor y productor, con su banda de soporte The Stone City Band.
Su primer éxito fue la canción de ocho minutos "You and I" de su primer álbum Come Get It (1978). Su canción más famosa es "Super Freak" (del álbum Street Songs (1981)), que fue la base para "U can't touch this" de MC Hammer.
Adicto a la cocaína, desde 1993 hasta 1995 cumplió condena por dos ataques a mujeres.
James intentó regresar al mundo musical con un nuevo disco y una gira en 1997, pero un ataque cardíaco leve durante un concierto puso fin en la práctica a su carrera.
